SMBs Can Benefit from Managed IT Services

SMBs Can Benefit from Managed IT Services

You would be hard-pressed to find anything more important to a company’s success than information technology. Today, we want to cover five of the most important tools modern businesses can use to improve operations and engage in commonly known and standardized best practices.

A Data Backup Solution

You may have heard the phrase, “data is the new currency,” which is true to a certain extent. Businesses that effectively use their data have a significant advantage over their competitors. The exact opposite can also be said: if your business loses access to its data, it cannot compete and will flounder. You need to have data backup measures in place if you hope to keep your hard-earned assets safe.

Modern data backup solutions can be leveraged by small and medium-sized businesses, and to make matters even better, they are simple enough that any organization can greatly benefit from them. We recommend that you use the 3-2-1 backup rule, which includes at least three copies of your data in at least two different locations, one of which is off-site, away from your in-house infrastructure.

Robust Cybersecurity Measures

Nearly 30 billion known records were breached in just the first quarter of this year, especially compared to the previous year’s fourth quarter, which was about one-tenth of that total.

Data breaches are something that no business wants to deal with, no matter how large or small. In fact, they can often spell doom for small businesses, as they are less resilient to their damaging effects, including downtime, compliance fines, and suffering reputations. You cannot underestimate how much a data breach could cost your business, from detection to resolution and the resulting fallout. Do all you can to prevent them in the first place so that they are not an issue you must manage.

Dynamic VoIP Systems

A great way to save costs is to implement a Voice over Internet Protocol telephone system that works with your Internet rather than through your local telephone provider. You add utility and value while reducing costs. Aside from some initial equipment investments, you will need a VoIP subscription and the Internet, which is much less expensive than the alternative solutions. You get more features and accessibility in a more scalable and convenient solution, so it’s hard to go wrong with VoIP.

Cloud-Based Data Storage

The cloud offers further savings through convenient data storage. Typically, a business might have an on-site server infrastructure where they might store data. Procuring, powering, and maintaining such an infrastructure is expensive and not necessarily in line with a business’ goals of saving money. Of course, physical file storage is even worse and far less secure and complicated—and that’s without mentioning backup.

Shared storage space in the cloud can help you reduce physical and complex server infrastructure storage. The cloud can also help you fulfill other business needs; if you can think of it, you can probably do it with the cloud.

Managed Services

SMBs rely on technology just as much as larger enterprises, so they naturally need someone to help them manage it. Unfortunately, this is another case of limited resources, as small businesses often don’t have internal teams to manage this workload.

The MSP model is a more affordable way for SMBs to fully utilize IT services and solutions. MSPs can handle the various responsibilities of any internal IT department, such as monitoring and maintaining systems and supporting teams.
